Back when I was in high school, I took a photography class. I loved it. I had a dark room in my house and developed the photographs myself. I would spend hours in there creating images. Not only would I develop images that I took, I would develop pictures from old negatives of my grandparents. It was one of those things that made me feel closer to my past. Then…I went to college, I didn’t have my darkroom, and the days of film were dying. As a broke college student I didn’t have the money to dive into digital. So I put my camera on the shelf for a while. Fast forward a few years and I’ve gotten married and had a kiddo and I realized how much photographs mean. I got a hand-me-down Canon 20-D for my first digital camera, and I was off again.
This time I wasn’t spending my time in the darkroom developing images, I was learning to digitally develop pictures, hoping they would be around for my son’s children to look back on. So in 2010, Purple Pear Photography was born.
I started out learning all I could, taking workshops, classes, and practicing. I fell in love again I’m sure you’re wondering, where did Purple Pear come from….well I can thank my son for that. Right about the time I was deciding to take clients, my son was about 9 months old and his favorite baby food was Pear Blueberries…..Purple Pears.
I quickly learned that I love photographing newborns and children. Being in The Woodlands, there were so many beautiful locations, I could spend hours exploring session locations. And meeting families with their new little babies brings me joy.
As my son started growing up, he discovered his love for baseball and started playing select ball. That occupied most weekends and I put my business on the back burner for a few years. But I’m so happy to say that I’m back and I can’t wait to meet you and your family!
